Education and Internship

Internship program is for those participants, who want to learn the methods of teaching a disabled child how to swim with a dolphin and discover the effects of such an experience.

 

Applicants for the Internship Programme are required to

 

1. Be between 22-40 years old

2. Have prior experience with mentally and physically handicapped children

3. Have a college degree on education or therapies for the handicapped

4. Know how to swim

5. Know the basics of first aid

6. Have the necessary skills for playing with children either one by one or in groups

7. Have the personal qualities for taking responsibility, heeding instructions and working in harmony as a team

 

The interns will stay during the internship in Soulscience School Antalya free of charge and will have a free lunch with the staff. In Soulscience School there are cooking possibilities, shower, a small kitchen with refridgerator. At the beginning the intern will be instructed by our staff and will swim as a co-therapist under the supervision of Dr. Kemaloğlu. He/she will later swim alone with the patient and the dolphin, supervised by Dr. Kemaloglu.

FAQ

How is the daily programme ?


Everyday except on mondays between 8.00 und 10.00 am swimming with the dolphin and the patient (1 session is 30 Min.) After that the dolphinshow (appr. 1 h.); after that play therapy either in Aqualand or at the hotelbeach. Sometimes small excursions with the patients and their families. Interaction with the patient and the families all day long. Programme until appr. 05:00 pm.


Do I need a visa ?


The citizens of EU-countries don’t need a visa. By other countries this can be different. Maximum staying time in Turkey for EU-citizens 3 months.


Do I need a wetsuite ?


Yes. The water temperature in the therapy center is 22 Centigrade Celsius. You can buy a wetsuite also on second hand.


How do I come from the airport to the office ?


Taxi (appr. 20€ ) or with the Havaş Servicebus (appr. 5€ ).
The end station of the bus is very closed to our office.


What kind of expenses will I have except fort he internship fee ?


The expenses for flight (Sunexpress www.sunexpress.de has many flights to Turkey, prices are variable due to holiday times); transfer; food and beverage. Without the flight one should calculate about 400€.- for 4 weeks.


Do I need to change money?


You will need Turkish Lira but it is much better to change in Turkey. You can pay some services (for example taxis) also in Euros.


Do I have a health insurance?


Only inside the Aqualand and the Dolphinland. We recommend to make a private health insurance for the internship period as the health services in Turkey are private (and they can be expensive) .
